A few High Dynamic Range shots of the Idaho State Capitol Building
We have a lot of wide open spaces here in Southwest Idaho. I usually do not find this kind of landscape beautiful or photo worthy, but I was recently challenged to take photos of things I see every day and wouldn’t normally shoot…and to make them interesting.
Here are a few of my Open Space Landscape attempts…
The Spirit of Boise Balloon Fest was this week. I didn’t make it out of bed early enough to catch any of the big mass lift off, but I did chase down “the” shot one day. I had to get just in the right spot to get the balloon right where I wanted it. Unfortunately my camera settings were not where I wanted them and the balloon was dropping too fast. I grabbed a shot of the balloon and one of the Capitol and did the rest at home…
A friend told me about an old water tank by some railroad tracks out in the middle of nowhere. I had to be out in the general direction of that specific middle of that specific nowhere for work yesterday, so I took my camera along. I just happened to get to the tank a few minutes before a train. I was able to get shots of the tank and the train passing it. Perfect timing!
Someone observed that the train almost looks like a toy next to the tank. I can assure you this is purely in comparison..standing just 4-5 car lengths from the tracks taking this pictures taught me that trains are BIG and Loud! :)
